Today marks the one year anniversary of my first written article for Bases and Baskets. I never would have imagined that I would be where I am in only a year of sports writing and was not even sure whether or not I would stay with it this long. But this blog has received tremendous support and the conversation has continued to build which was ultimately what I had aspired to achieve with this blog: an outlet for “original sports analysis and opinion” and really an extension of our collective daily sports conversation.
Thank you to the people who have been here since the beginning and helped spark dialogue and help spread the word—you all know who you are. Thank you to each and every “like” that this blog's Facebook page has achieved from the United States to the UK to the Philippines and many, many places in between. You have helped me by sharing your diverse range of voices and opinions and spreading the word of Bases and Baskets through the power of Facebook. Thank you to the blog's Twitter followers and those who come from a wide array of other sources. My opinion on various topics has led to animated discussions which was truly the main aim with this blog.
Writing as a featured columnist for Bleacher Report, appearing on the LA Times website, and interviewing an NBA Hall of Famer have been some unforgettable experiences but ultimately the debate has been the most exciting and rewarding experience in this one year which is why I do lean toward writing opinion pieces, rankings, and predictions.
And while more serious non-blogging tasks are in the near future for me and I may not be able to dedicate as much time to this blog, it is re-assuring to know that there will always be an audience ready to read and debate when I can write. Thank YOU for that!
All the best,
Founder and author of Bases and Baskets
